South Beach Smoke Review, Revisited…
An E Cigarette Brand Advancing and Progressing…
(What we like to see but don’t often enough)

I’ll get to my experience with the battery in a sec as it certainly is the core of what makes the new offering so attractive (it was the only improvement I had first heard about when i decided to investigate further), but  as I was lollygagging through their official South Beach site to find out the details and see the new design, I actually found that South Beach has been making improvements beyond just that! I would say the new SuperMax battery, as phenomenal as it is (and it is the best you are going to find in any e cig close to this size now) – that would be enough reason to get excited however after checking out what else is new i would venture to say is only about 50% of what makes South Beach Smoke our new top recommended choice starter kit (and I am specifically talking about the DELUXE model here as it is the one that has been overhauled and to my delight complimented with some essential new accessories too).

I got my original South Beach Smoke Deluxe Starter Kit long ago, so I didn’t notice right away, that they recently lowered the price of their market-leading Deluxe Starter Kit to $59.99, and on top of that now offer their simplistic Premium Starter Kit for a true bargain at $29.99. The most exciting place where prices have dropped though is in the ongoing price of refill carts whichever model you elect for (pssst, get the deluxe! thank me later) – but the slightly controversial “Home Delivery Program” that South Beach Smoke offers to its customers as a convenient way to make sure to always have stock of enough refills with monthly shipments has itself improved too, in the form of lower monthly refill costs period. You absolutely DO NOT have to sign up for the program but the convenience of it combined with the price savings on the always rich and flavorful, very satisfying South Beach Smoke Cartomizers – which have had a few minor tweaks to their design as well (check out the new cartomizer tip a little later).

The introduction of a PCC (Portable Charging Case) is a HUGE plus and having seen and used many types I can say the new South Beach Smoke Portable Charging Case is a fantastic one too. You’ll never have to face running out of charge again with this thing, its a must-have for those on the go.

Okay now back to the big news: that industry-changing battery of theirs! As it turns out, South Beach Smoke is offering the SuperMax batteries in each of their three Deluxe Starter Kits: the standard Deluxe, the Deluxe Plus and the Deluxe Ultimate. Any smoker that starts up with a South Beach Smoke Deluxe Starter Kit will get a chance to experience it right off the bat. After looking through those beautiful kits they offer, I was able to find the individual batteries in the accessory section of their site, priced at $24.99 for the Standard and $29.99 for the High-Capacity version.

My Love Affair with the South Beach Smoke Deluxe’s NEW SuperMax Battery…

I will admit that I was probably a little too excited to see if this battery was for real; I actually had trouble waiting for the initial charge to finally finish! It was worth the wait. Even the standard sized version, which is really a small battery, was able to last me hours and hundreds of puffs; I’ll go out on a limb and said that I definitely eclipsed the 300 puff mark on one charge. But that doesn’t even compare to the apparently infinite lifespan of the high-capacity SuperMax battery. This thing lasted me so long that I actually felt guilty for not having to recharge after the first day; a ritual that I’ve gotten so used to over my e-smoking years. I must have gotten at least 600 full-bodied hits of vapor out of that one charge; I went out dancing one night and I didn’t even have to use the spare that I brought out with me. It…just…keeps…going. I can personally attest that the hype surrounding their new technology is definitely deserved.

 But wait there’s more! The SuperMax battery offers the option of automatic or manual switches that is so rare in similar devices these days. Now beginning smokers can not have to worry about manual switches and veteran smokers can use them to get nice, big throat hits. I also really liked how they offered two color choices; black and white. These are really all you need, and having that option is definitely important to this reviewer. Finally they also added this really cool looking crystal tip that flares up in brilliant orange glow as you puff on the e-cig, a little change that adds something cool to the experience.

New South Beach Smoke Cartomizers: One Last New Benefit and Tip (For Those Who Are Inclined To Try Refilling Their Cartomizers)

Here is a little “hack” you can think of it as… not endorsed by South Beach Smoke I’m sure but certainly possible.  In the past, South Beach Smoke Cartomizers had a ‘hard plastic’ top cap. This has been swapped for a new rubber soft seal which is promoted as being nicer in the mouth, which it is… but that is overlooking one substantial benefit of the change – It is now relatively simple to refill your south beach smoke cartomizers with e liquid of your choice (I recommend Smart Vaper’s Premium American Made Smart E Liquid but you can use any you like). I will upload a simple guide but using a paperclip you can easily remove the rubbery cartomizer cap, holding it at about a 45 degree angle you can drop about 10-15 drops slowly into the absorbent filler. I have personally tried a number of my favorite E Liquids and they have all performed great with the new south beach smoke kit this way.

Keep in mind cartomizers are designed to be disposable, and as a rule of thumb you should toss it after 3-4 refills if you do decide to try this as you will start to notice a degrading of vapor quality after about that much use. Also be sure not to overfill with e liquid, you especially dont want to get any into your automatic battery – always refill while cartomizer is detached from the battery. I recommend you completely use up one of your SBS Cartomizers before attempting this and then refill with you own “e juice” – for best flavor use a cartomizer most closely matching the type of flavor you are refilling with. Luckily south beach smoke offer a good flavor selection making that easy.

** note: I am not sure, but due to the possibility of getting e liquid into the automatic battery, this refill trick should be done carefully (if at all) and if not done right “could” potential harm an automatic (though not manual!) battery, and wouldn’t be covered under South Beach Smoke’s limited warranty.

South Beach Smoke Review 2012 – Concluding Thoughts

There’s no doubt about it, with the addition of this impressive new battery and their competitive price cuts, South Beach Smoke really stands as the industry leader right about now – the company has fully rounded out the best ecig offering   with lower pricing, the choice of a traditional white or a classy black model, manual and automatic (your choice) state of the art ‘SuperMax’ e cigarette batteries – and though we wish they’d hold a charge forever – the next best thing is the protective and incredibly handy Deluxe Portable Charging Case (PCC) which I highly highly recommend picking up. South Beach Smoke is one of the few brands in the e-cigarette world that has been established for a while now and yet has shown their willingness and even enthusiasm to not let their product stagnate, to continue to innovate and set the pace for everyone else, while other big name e-cigarette brands too often have outdated technology not living up to what is possible today.

However, every kr808d battery is not made the same. You can tell a V2 battery by this cool matte finish, they feel rubbery compared to the traditional hard metallic feel of kr808d batteries from other companies. But they don’t just look cooler, they are just a higher class of mini batteries, especially after the recent changes.

The most annoying aspect of mini e-Cigs is that they often don’t last long enough per charge and are a hassle to recharge on the go or even at home, but V2′s new batteries last much longer on each charge than any other minis out there. As if that’s not enough reason, because they last longer they also create more vapor. Other batteries will start to poop out toward the end of the charge and create weak vapor hits before they die. But since these V2 batteries are powered by 4.2 volts and are longer lasting, they produce large clouds of vapor for a longer amount of time.

Options, Options, Options

Not only are they high-performance, but V2 Cigs offers their batteries in a variety of lengths and styles. They have 100mm (shorty), 110 mm (standard) and 140 (long) sized batteries. And each of these sizes allows you to choose between an automatic and a manual operation. Automatic batteries create vapor when you inhale them while manual batteries require you press a button and inhale. It all comes down to a matter of preference, it’s said that manual batteries create more vapor with each hit but with automatic you get a lot of convenience. Regardless, the option to even choose “automatic” or “manual” is something that a lot of brands don’t offer – it’s always nice to have options. The prices for the individual batteries range from $20 for the shorty to a measly $30 for the long boy. These are some of the lowest prices you’ll find, and considering they are of V2 quality, they are a steal.

The V2 Cartridges

V2 Cigs, like every E-Cigarette company, offers prefilled cartomizers (nicotine cartridges in layman’s terms). But V2 Cigs is not like every E-Cigarette company; they offer their cartomizers in a huge array of flavors and at a lower price per cartridge than most other brands on the market.

V2 E Liquid / Cartomizer Variety – A Great Line of Flavors

V2 Cigs may not have the largest selection of flavors, but that’s not all the matters in this industry. Some brands have a huge rainbow line of flavors, but when it gets down to it none of them taste very good. This is not so with V2 – they don’t have the largest selection but it’s still a nice size – and they certainly all taste great. V2 separates their flavors into three categories; rich tobacco, cool menthol and specialty flavors. I’ve put together a little diagram to display which flavors are in which group. After that, I’ll review the flavors that I tried so that you can maybe get a clue as to what you want to try.

As you can see, they don’t have the MOST expansive selection. But it’s a solid list and it’s not like you’re going to need any more flavors than that list above. They have something for everybody. In my experience, I enjoy the specialty flavors more than the tobacco or menthol flavors. I like the ability to switch it up and experience the interesting tastes of flavors like Cherry or Vanilla. Of V2′s selection, I sampled the V2 Red, Coffee, Vanilla, Cherry and V2 Cola flavors. I enjoyed all of them because I enjoy everything about a V2 electronic cigarette – but I particularly liked V2 Cola (I don’t think any other brand offers a Cola flavor), Cherry and Vanilla. They all had a very distinguishable taste and were tasty as hell.

Comparing V2 Prices to Other Brands

V2 estimates their cartridges to cost $1.69 per cartridge. On their website, they have a comparison chart that shows that their per cartridge price is much lower than any other brand on the market. If you’re looking for specifics about their prices, here’s a little guide. You can buy 5 packs of flavored nicotine cartridges for $12.95, a 20 pack for $44.95, a 40 pack for $66.47 , an 80 pack for $129.95, and a 100 pack for only $225. These are great prices, especially considering the high quality of V2′s cartomizers and the flavors used in them. Currently they have a special going where they offer a special edition “Passion Fruit” flavor that comes in a 5 pack for only $9.95.

If you don’t have a lot of time or you don’t want to mess around with the mess or hassle of refilling on your own, prefilled nicotine cartridges are a great option. Plus, the flavor often seems to taste a little bit better when you don’t have to do the work of refilling the cartridge yourself. But that’s just me. However, if you’re looking to take the E-Liquid route, V2 Cigs has you covered with their newly released line of e-liquids. Refilling with e-liquid is a great way to save money and open up some new options for your e-smoking career.

Saving Money with V2 E-Liquid

V2 recently rolled out their own line of E-Liquids – something that you don’t often see from the mainstream electronic cigarette brands. This is the greatest sign that a company is not just out to make money but to provide a better vaporizing experience for the customer. Because they offer their bottles of e-liquid at 10mL for $10, they give you the option to refill your cartridges instead of being forced into buying their more expensive prefilled cartridges. Some brands even put hard caps on the ends of their prefilled cartridges so that customers can’t refill with their own e-liquid, forcing them into buying more cartridges over and over again instead of refilling themselves. This is a practice that V2 eliminates with their soft cartridge tops and even their own line of e-liquid. There are a lot of things to like about V2′s line of e-liquids, from the quality of the vapor to the throat hit to the flavor options to the bargain prices.

What Makes V2 E-Liquid Special?

V2 Cigs currently offers their e-liquids in four flavors – V2 Red, Sahara, Menthol and Peppermint. Each flavor is available in strengths from 0mg of nicotine to 18mg. The way these e-liquids work (for those who don’t already know) is that you can take used up cartridges or the empty cartridges that V2 offers and refill them with these flavors. You simply drip the e-liquid into the end of the cartridge using V2′s easy drip bottles, they really  make everything easier with their design. Another interesting option this brings about is that you can mix and match flavors. Say you bought some vanilla cartridges and they are running low – well you can drip some of the peppermint flavor into a vanilla cartridge and create a peppermint vanilla flavor.

Beyond the basics of what makes e-liquid generally great, V2 has some added benefits to your traditional e-liquids. First of all, they offer their bottles at an extremely discounted rate. For only $10 you can purchase a 10  mL bottle and the 20 mL bottles run for only $18.95. For reference, 10 mL of e-liquid can refill 10 cartridges (sometimes I even stretched it to 15!) – that’s only $1 per refill! Huge savings over buying the prefilled cartos.

But perhaps the best thing about V2′s e-liquid is that they offer something that has never before been offered in the history of e-liquid – batch testing. E-liquid has always been a mysterious product – it’s often produced overseas and it’s hard to determine whether the ingredients are safe, not to mention whether the amount of nicotine is the same as labelled! Propylene Glycol, the main ingredient in nicotine e-liquid, is hard to regulate so that is a big issue in the consuming it. But V2 Cigs puts a number on each and you can log onto their website and do a “batch check” where you can get a report on the batch that your e-liquid came from. This is leagues beyong the type of regulation that has existed in the past, and it really solves a lot of the potential dangers surrounding e-liquid.

Starter Kits are the most important aspect of every electronic cigarette company. A company can easily be gaged by the quality, contents and pricing of their starter kits. Many companies will just buy bulk packages of batteries, cartomizers (cartridges) and chargers from overseas and throw them together to sell them for huge profits. Most starter kits on the market are exactly the same thing, just branded with a different logo on the box. But V2 Cigs is it’s own brand. They produce their products in their own United States and always adhere to the V2 original style and high quality that push the boundaries of what we conceived starter kit really great.

So let’s get down to the specifics of V2′s starter kit line. Of course there is the fundamental technology used for their electronic cigarettes – the battery, cartridges and e-liquids discussed above – and that obviously comes first and foremost. The starter kit, in it’s most basic form, is composed of a battery, cartridges and some type of charger. But V2 does this combincation spectacularly by offering so many different starter kit options while still including their superior core e-cigarette technologies. As mentioned earlier, their batteries have a unique “matte finish” that really characterizes the brand – you know you’re getting something special when you can feel that rubbery V2 style finish. Their cartridges are tasty and have a low-resistance style that makes them easy to inhale from. What I’m getting at is that if you purchase a V2 starter kit, you’re doing something right. You’re going to be receiving a great electronic cigarette with great flavors from a great brand. But V2 is not only about quality, they are about variety.

When I first began to shop for an electronic cigarette (when I first got into e-smoking) I wandered onto v2cigs.com and was astounded by the pure variety of starter kits. They have starter kits for every budget – ranging from $29.95 to $189.95. Under $30 – Quality Kits on a Low Budget

Express Kit ($29.95)

The V2 Express Kit is quite honestly the cheapest starter kit you’re going to find on the market. And by cheapest I’m talking only about price – not quality. Obviously the contents of the kit aren’t extravagant – you’re getting the bare essentials here. It comes with 1 battery, 1 flavor cartridge and 1 USB charger. So obviously the pros here are that it’s cheap and you can try it out a little bit before you upgrade. But it’s also great because all you really have to do is order more flavor cartridges when the first one runs out. For $30, you’re getting a high quality V2 e-cigarette and a charger. That’s an unbeatable deal. Just as a head’s up, you probably will want to order a 5-pack of flavor cartridges when you order this kit. One flavor cartridge will last you a while, but once it runs out you’ll have to wait for more to ship out anyway.

V2 Notebook-Cig ($29.95)

The other V2 kit that you can find for below $30 is the V2 Notebook Cig. This is a neat little kit that is a bit different than the Express Kit. What you’re getting here is a USB electronic cigarette – it’s completely powered by your computer. The pros of this type of e-cig are that it never runs out of battery and will always be pumping at high-voltage (you never have to worry about your battery dying and producing weaker vapor). The cons are that you can’t take it on the go unless you plan to carry your laptop around with you – I have actually done this before and it got some laughs from friends. But ultimately it’s not convenient in terms of portability. But unlike the Express Kit, you get a full 5-pack of flavor cartridges and you can choose any of V2′s flavors. This is a great option for those that spend a lot of time on the computer. I have always been a huge fan of the USB Passthrough E-cigarette and you can always add on a regular e-Cig if you need more portability (V2 offers individual batteries for as low as $19.95).

Fully Stocked V2 Starter Kits

If you are looking to spend a bit more for a fully stocked starter kit, than you may want to check out these instead of the bargain kits above. Those are great for a low budget, but ultimately you will need all of the supplies found in the “real” V2 starter kits I’ve listed below. There are 5 of these kits but I’ve only reviewed the Economy Kit and Ultimate Kit (the entry kit and the high-end kit respectively). For the others, you can pretty much expect the same thing with small adjustments of accessories, chargers, cartomizers etc. Check V2 Cig’s website for more information about all of these kits.

V2 Economy Kit -The Gold Standard for Entry Kits ($59.95)

• New easy-fill caps make it really simple to refill Smokeless Image cartomizers, and the flavor stays the same. I didn’t experience the “cardboard” taste that vapers have complained about when refilling KR808D-1 cartomizers on other models of E-Cigarettes.

We checked out all three of Volcano’s great starter kit options and determined how they stood up to the rest of the market. We researched and rated each of the main categories that we look for in all of our e-cigarette brands.

In terms of overall performance, Volcano really blew us away with their vapor production and battery life; particularly when we used their largest “Inferno” model. The Inferno model is about the size of a sharpie marker, so it’s not an optimal size for someone looking to find an exact-match replacement for tobacco cigarettes. However they have smaller models; the Magma and Volcano, both of which have their own starter kits to round out the bunch. These devices were smaller than the Inferno but definitely  no deadbeats when it came to functionality.

As we finished up hardcore reviewing for Volcano’s three starter kits, we were satisfied with their selection. They had quality products for all types of e-smokers; those that prefer drip-tip set-ups or 510 style tank set-ups, big batteries or small batteries, customizability or simplicity.

Volcano Inferno e-Cigarette and Starter Kit

This e-cigarette is big; it’s about the size of an average permanent marker. Where it doesn’t match the size of your favorite tobacco cigarette, it will make up in vapor production, customization and battery life. You have the option to use cartomizers for a traditional drip-tip set-up or a 510 tank set-up, an option that is increasing in popularity. For curious or experienced smokers, you can have both the drip-tip and tank setup included in your kit for only $15 more!

The Inferno Starter Kit runs for a very reasonable $75 and comes with a 650mAH USB pass-through battery, a 1000mAH Super INFERNO Battery, a USB charger with power switch, a wall charger, a mini USB cable, a carrying bag and a 15mL bottle of Volcano’s V-Liquid (you choose from 29 flavors).

If you choose the Drip Kit style, you get the MAGMA Atomizer, an anodized aluminum drip tip and 2 matching atomizer cones. For the Tank Kit style you’ll receive 1 INFERNO Tank-o-mizer and 5 blank tanks that you can refill.

Vapor Production

Of course the Inferno e-Cig model was huge and produced some huge vapor clouds and massive throat hits that really blew out some of the small, chintzy mini-style e-cigarettes you find marketed for their “trendiness and smallness” online. With the traditional drip-tip cartomizer setup, we found that the Inferno really outdid itself in vapor production by combining large clouds of smoke with a smooth draw that made it easier on the user. The tank set-up was a bit harder to draw from, but for those that want full customization and no dying cartomizers, this is a worthwhile price to pay.

Battery Life

The Inferno e-cigarette from Volcano features two types of batteries; the 650 mAH USB battery or the Super 1000 mAH battery. I am a huge proponent of USB pass-through batteries because they not only allow you to smoke without worrying about how much battery is left, but they allow you to smoke your e-cigarette while it’s charging, whether you’re at home or on-the-go with your laptop.

The Super Inferno Battery with the amazing 1000mAH lasted these reviewers for an entire day and then some. It never died on us when we needed it most and at 1,000mAH it’s one of the longest lasting batteries you’re going to find in a starter kit. The Inferno Starter Kit offers the ultimate battery life of any e-cigarette kit that we’ve reviewed, even better than any of the 510-style starter kits that are famous for lasting as long as 3 days on one charge!

Appearance

One drawback to the Inferno e-cigarette is that beginners may be driven away by it’s size. With the 1000 mAH Super battery, the length can range from 5.55 inches long with the drip-tip system to 6 inches with the tank system. This comes out to about the size of an average permanent marker. However, for the value you’re getting and the absolute customization power that the Inferno offers, this will be a small price to pay for many veteran e-smokers.

Besides size, the Inferno e-cigarette by Volcano is really a slick device. It comes in a slick black color that I love in my e-cigarettes, really showing the new-age power of e-smoking. The batteries also come in red or silver color options that are equally trendy and futuristic looking.

Price

At a paltry $74.99, the Inferno Starter Kit is an absolute steal. Not only do you get the Super Inferno 1000mAH battery that will last you forever and a day, but you get the amazing USB pass-through battery, USB charger, wall charger and on top of it all, a mini USB charger. Add in 15 mL of Volcano’s great-tasting V-Liquid, the option of either a drip-tip or tank setup and you’re looking at an extremely great value. Plus, as earlier mentioned, it’s only going to run you an extra $15 to get both the drip-tip and tank systems included in your kit.

In terms of value, the Inferno Starter Kit is one of the greatest values that I’ve reviewed so far in my e-cigarette career, honestly.

Magma e-Cigarette and Starter Kit

The Magma also allows you to choose from a single cartomizer or a full-on tank set-up, but compared to the Inferno it has a smaller battery, an automatic battery option and more of a “mid-size” style for added portability. For the sake of comparison, a Magma came out to be the size of a “100 style” tobacco cigarette and measured in at 4.45” long with both the drip-tip and tank configurations. The Magma Starter Kit comes in at the same price as the Inferno, a very reasonable $75.

Included in both of the Magma Starter Kits are: 2 M-Batteries (your choice of manual or automatic), 1 M-Pack (portable charing case), 1 USB charger, 1 wall charger, 1 mini-USB cable and a 15mL bottle of V-Liquid. The Drip Kit setup includes 2 Magma Atomizers and 1 anodized aluminum drip tip. The Tank Kit setup includes 1 Magma Tank-o-mizer and 5 blank tanks.

The difference between the Magma and Inferno are found in the batteries and accessories. The Magma doesn’t include the 1000mAH or USB pass-through batteries but comes with the choice of 2 automatic or manual batteries and a cool personal charging case that can charge both and has a digital display to show you how charged your batteries are. The Magma is more suited to e-smokers who are looking for a mid-sized model that still has long battery life and lots of options without the bulkiness or super-powered options of the Inferno. I’d recommend it for beginning smokers who want to try the drip-tip and tank setup and have some extended battery life.

Vapor Production

The Magma was not quite as powerful as the Inferno, but it showed us that it could match the size of a classic 100-style tobacco cigarette without sacrificing vapor production. Same as with the Inferno model, the cartomizer drip-tip setup had a smoother draw and produced more vapor than the tank set-up. However the Magma is one of the smallest e-cigarettes that allows users to use their own tank setup and a lot of people are going to like that about it.

Battery Life

The Magma doesn’t have the pass-through or 1000mAH Super Inferno battery, but it makes up for it with its own options. The M-Case is AWESOME. We loved the digital display and just how slick it looked as you carried your batteries around as they charged on-the-go. Add in the manual and automatic option and you have some real potential to be using your e-cigarette all day without it dying.

Besides charging your Magma on the go and having the power to turn it on or off with the manual option, the battery itself is nice and large. It packs a huge charge that will last you up to a full day without being too large or overwhelming for the beginning smoker.

Appearance

The Magma is a whole lot sexier than the Inferno, and that’s really one of the main reasons it would be chosen over the Inferno. The Magma, as mentioned above, does not get any larger than a “100-style” analog tobacco cigarette. This is an important fact because it maintains that beautifully miniature size while still offering both the tank and drip-tip setups! Adding insult to injury to all other e-cigarette brands out there, Volcano suits up the Magma e-Cigarette with a really nice red LED tip to complement it’s trendy black color. There is truly no better option on the market for a small device that offers both these options.

Price

Once again, the Magma is a super value compared to similar devices on the market. The same price as the Inferno Starter Kit, the Magma Starter Kit is still a great value for those e-smokers more suited to its features. With the included M-Case, automatic or manual battery option and 3 different types of chargers, $75 for the entire kit is really a steal.

Once again, as an e-cigarette reviewer I have to report that the Magma Starter Kit is one of the best values on the market for a great, customizable option that doesn’t break the bank.

Volcano e-Cigarette Starter Kit

Volcano’s classic e-cigarette is named none other than the “Volcano eCig”. It uses a traditional kr808d-1 battery and cartomizer set-up without the option for a tank set-up. This is great for beginners and comes in a beautifully miniature length of 3.46”. This is the Volcano version of the ultra-miniature replacement for traditional cigarettes and it doesn’t disappoint.

Included in the Volcano Starter Kit are: 2 V-Batteries with Red LED tips, 1 V-Pack, 1 wall charger, 1 USB charger and a 5-pack of atomized cartomizers (you choose the strength and flavor). This kit is perfect for beginning smokers that want a really easy to use and miniature device as they transtion to electronic cigarettes from tobacco.

Vapor Production

So Volcano’s smallest e-cigarette must not be able to product very much vapor compared to it’s other two options, right? Wrong. We actually really liked Volcano’s approach to the kr808d model. Even though they didn’t use the ultra-new bottom-lying cartomizer coil like some of the pricier brands, the Volcano model still produced huge plumes of vapor and had a really nice, easy draw. For the size of the device that you’re getting with the Volcano e-cigarette, the vapor and throat hit are amazing. We have to say that in terms of vapor production and throat hit, it definitely stood up to the pricier brands atop the market for mini-style e-cigarettes.

Battery Life

Obviously the Volcano e-cigarette isn’t going to stand up to the amazing battery life of the Inferno or Magma devices, but users know this going in and are willing to sacrifice for the miniature style. But regardless, it’s not like the Volcano Starter Kit is going to have a battery that fails to even hold a charge. The V-Battery is no slouch, especially compared to mini batteries you’ll find in similar products from other brands. We never had an issue with the battery dying on us and leaving us stranded without a charge.

In fact, the V-Pack that comes with the Volcano Starter Kit makes the miniature style e-cigarette a truly reasonable option. Even if the individuals batteries don’t last for an entire day, you always have the trendy personal charging V-Pack to recharge your batteries on the go.

Appearance

The Volcano e-cigarettes are the most beautiful of all the options Volcano has in their store. It’s miniature style, trendy charging case, red LED tip and black/white options for battery colors all add up to a truly nice-looking device. Because it doesn’t look like some alien device like some e-cigarettes, the Volcano was always a conversation starter when we used it in bars, restaurants or even at the local coffee shop.

Price

The best part about the Volcano Starter Kit is the price. Coming in at a truly reasonable $64.99, if you use our 10% off coupon than you’ll be getting a great starter kit for under $60. I have found that starter kits that include a personal charging case like the V-Pack are very rarely found for under $60, and if you factor in the true quality of Volcano’s products and all of their flavor options, the Volcano Starter Kit is probably in the top three mini-style starter kits on the market in terms of both price and quality.

Volcano’s New LavaTube E-Cigarettes

The Lavatube that Volcano is currently offering is different than a lot of the two-piece e-cigarettes you’re probably used to seeing as you research e-cigs starter kits and options across the web and on review sites like this. The LavaTube product is basically an e-cigarette that allows you to digitally select the voltage that you want it to put out; offering an incredibly customizable smoking experience for beginning and veteran smokers alike. If you’re looking to blast your throat with huge vapor plumes and a nice throat hit, you can set the voltage on your device up to 6 watts; if you are in public and looking to discretely puff without agitating those around you, you can go for a more traditional 3 or 4 watts.

The Lava Tube comes as either an individual device or a kit full of everything you’ll need to get started. The device itself is a cool 3-piece 510-style e-cigarette that means you have the option of buying pre-filled cartridges from Volcano or purchasing your own refillable 510 tank that screws onto the included atomizer. We really enjoyed the options that came with this innovative new device; we could choose the wattage, the type of connection and when to turn it on or off with the power button.

Choose Your Wattage!

The device has 3 buttons on it – power button and two buttons to increase or decrease wattage on the go. It uses a flat top high-drain battery that Volcano categorizes as the 18650. We found the battery to last us an incredibly long time, as we’ve come to expect from 510-style e-cigarettes like the Joye eGo and similar models. But the LavaTube differs from these because you can save battery even further by choosing a lower wattage with the manual wattage buttons and the digital display screen that tells you how much power you’re using.

The LavaTube kit comes with the LavaTube itself, a LavaTube atomizer (3.0 ohm), a rechargeable LiMN Battery (18650 style), chargers for your car and wall sockets, a “Black Swirl” Drip Tip for refilling cartridges and a really nice cushioned carrying case. With all the contents of this kit, you’re set to really explore everything that the Volcano LavaTube has to offer in terms of customization. You can order from their huge variety of replacement “drip tips” which allow you to refill your cartomizer without removing the mouthpiece; a super convenient option. Then they also have replacement tube tank cartomizers that fit either the 4 mL or 7mL cartomizers and gave us huge throat hits and only cost $3 for one.

The LavaTube is an awesome device, especially for veteran smokers who want that drip-tip, tube tank and long battery life that they’ve come to expect from 510-style e-cigarettes and with even more options and benefits.

Volcano is definitely one of the top brands in terms of their selection and quality of flavors. We tried each and every one of their 29 flavors of “V-Liquids” and we were blown away.

It is certainly undeniable that electronic cigarette technology is improving at a dramatic pace. The release of the Bloog MaxXFusion falls into the latter category; at a glance it appears much like the many other 2-piece electronic cigarettes on the market today. Indeed Bloog’s new e cig is still compatible with the KR808D-1 specifications (the threading on the MaxXFusion Batteries and MaxXFusion Cartomizers work fine with other KR808D-1 brands and products) and can best be described as an upgrade. In order to fully review Bloog’s new E Cig I had decided to get just the Basic MaxXFusion Starter Kit (which comes with only one battery, along with a both a standard wall outlet and USB charger  – as well as 5 ‘REDS’ Flavor Cartomizers, similar to Marlboro, and a nice velvet battery pouch). To supplement my relatively bare-bones kit I grabbed some additional cartomizers (Watermelon, and my all time favorite, RY4) as well as one additional new battery from Bloog that I noticed in their ‘Fusion Showcase’ section. The additional battery sounded exceedingly cool and advanced, offering 3-In-1 technology that is an industry first in itself. Called the Bloog TRIFECTA, while not specifically a MaxXFusion product (it works with both the original Fusion and the new MaxXFusion – and indeed all KR808D based e cigarettes) the new battery offers three battery types in one. With the ability to act as a USB Passthrough as well as BOTH a ‘manual’ and ‘automatic’ battery, The TRIFECTA electronic cigarette battery promised to be more versatile than any on the market before it and I had to try it out for myself.

I Knew From The First Puff That The Bloog MaxXFusion Electronic Cigarette Was A Game-Changer

I’m sure it is pretty clear already my response when my Bloog MaxXFusion Starter Kit and other vaping goodies to review arrived; within moments I knew this was something very special, that Bloog had hit the nail on the head with their MaxXFusion E Cigarette. I could see improvements immediately on opening the box and just looking at the new model, such as higher quality manufacturing standards and improved tactile feel of the batteries and the incredibly easy to remove top-cap on the cartomizers for super quick refills. I plugged in the Bloog Trifecta battery via it’s USB Passthrough cable into my laptop to try my first puff, while waiting for the other battery to fully charge.
